Thai Visa for Foreigners

Thai Marriage Visa

The most common 12 months visa in Thailand is a marriage visa or Thai “O” visa. This visa is for those who are married to a Thai national. The process starts at a Thai Embassy with a 90 day visa. Once you enter Thailand you have 90 days in which to extend this visa for 12 months. Speak to a lawyer about this as you can also apply for a Guardian Visa in Thailand if your minor child is at school in Thailand and you child is not a Thai national.


 

Thai Retirement Visa

If you are older than 50 then the retirement visa is another option. There are a number of retirement locations in Thailand that expats like. Some retire in Phuket while other prefer to retire in Chaimai and Pattaya. These are all options when in Thailand. The retirement visa allows you to stay in Thailand for 12 months however it does not allow you to work while in Thailand. You will need a Thai work permit if you wish to work in Thailand. The financial requirements for the visa is much higher than that of the marriage visa.
